Susan Cooper: Hello, I'm Susan Cooper. It's an easy name, and it seems to be a common name. The cooper is a man who makes barrels. So we back when names started, there must have been an awful lot of barrel makers. If you look me up on the internet, you will see several different faces, which is confusing. I'm the one with short, gray-blonde hair. There are lots of Susan Coopers in the United States. There's a math professor in Nebraska, there's a photographer in California, and a nurse in Tennessee. And there are seven Susan Coopers selling real estate, all over the place. I don't sell real estate. I write books.

I was born and raised in England, as you can tell from my voice. But I'm taught Welsh, and my second name is Mary, for my Welsh grandmother, Mary Ellen Davis. So my birth name is Susan Mary Cooper. Sometimes I wish I had an exotic, uncommon name, but at least everybody knows how to pronounce Susan Cooper.
