Raina Telgemeier: Hello. My name is Raina Telgemeier. When I was born it was raining outside, and my parents liked the name Raina to begin with. Raina means queen in Spanish, but it's typically spelled R-E-I-N-A. And because it was raining the night I was born, my parents decided to spell it with an a instead of an e, so R-A-I-N-A. That's how I got my first name. And my last name is kind of long and complicated, and people often have a hard time pronouncing it, but it's actually not so hard. It's Telgemeier, which rhymes with Telga like the name Helga, and then meier, as in Oscar Meyer wiener. So, that's what I tell people. Helga and Meyer, Telegemeier.
