Alexis O'Neill: Hello. My name is Alexis O'Neill. I'm named after my maternal grandmother. Her name was originally Alexandrina, but she shortened it to Alexis when she emigrated from Nova Scotia, Canada to Everett, Massachusetts in the early 1900s. Alexis means helper in Greek, and that's certainly something I like to do. O'Neill is Irish. The O apostrophe stands for of, as in the family of Neill. My name is easy to pronounce, but I sometimes have to remind folks about the spelling of O'Neill. It has two L's walking together at the end. O apostrophe, N-E-I-L-L. Alexis O'Neill. That's me.
