Chris Raschka: Hello, my name is Chris Raschka. Raschka comes from the Czech word for robin. It's not the robin that we Americans know, which is a bigger thrush, but it's a smaller bird that's more like a finch. Raschka is not the name that I grew up with, actually. It's a name that I chose when I got married, and my wife and I both wanted to have a new name together, so we looked at the names available to us, and Raschka happened to be my mother's maiden name, and now it's mine.
