Laurence Yep: Hello, my name is Laurence Yep. My brother, Tom, is 10 years older than I am. And so because they thought they could avoid sibling rivalry, my parents let him name me. It only came up many years later. He named me after a saint who died a particularly gruesome death. He also chose a spelling that he knew most people in America would misspell.
