Book Description
for It's Raining Pigs and Noodles by Jack Prelutsky and James Stevenson
From Cooperative Children's Book Center (CCBC)
A thick, inviting volume includes more than 100 silly verses and nonsense poems on subjects ranging from virtual chickens to pet tomatoes. Some of the poems are just four lines long, packing a quick verbal punch, while others extend the nonsense over three or four stanzas, frequently ending with a humourous twist. Several concrete poems round out the collection. The most notable of these is “I’m Caught Up in Infinity,” written in the shape of the mathematical sign for infinity so that the poem can go on and on and on. Each poem is illustrated with one of James Stevenson’s spirited black-and-white line drawings which aptly capture the flavor of Prelutsky’s delicious nonsense. (Ages 5-12)
