An unseen narrator offers a list of “don’ts” related to the treatment of all different kinds of pets. “Please don’t tease Tootsie, or provoke Poochie” (n.p.), and so on. Then, in reverse order, the narrator tells just how each pet should be treated. This is a beautifully designed book: thick paper; unclut tered pages; a simple text in large print; backgrounds in bold, flat colors; and humorous illustrations featuring an array of pets clearly showing how they feel about their initial mistreatments and their pleasure when treated kindly.
