Book Descriptions
for My Buddy by Audrey Osofsky and Ted Rand
From Cooperative Children's Book Center (CCBC)
A wheelchair-mobile boy with muscular dystrophy feels excited about getting his first service dog, a golden retriever named Buddy. After he undergoes two weeks of training at a special camp which teaches him how to command Buddy, he's ready to take the dog home and adjust to the differences Buddy makes in his life around the house, in school and out in the neighborhood. Realistic watercolor paintings illustrate a fine story about a spirited young boy and his trusted companion. (Ages 4-9)
