Book Description
for The Return of the Killer Cat by Anne Fine and Steve Cox
From The United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY)
Tuffy thinks he will have a great week when the family is on vacation. But the vicar is not Tuffy’s idea of a good cat-sitter. He refuses to open a new tin of cat food until Tuffy has finished the last one. Tuffy has to escape through the bathroom window after he has spent the night eating and “yowl ing” with the “gang.” Escapade follows escapade until he falls into the hands of Melanie, who names him “Janet,” dresses him up, and feeds him on tuna and cream until the gang intervenes. The black-and-white drawings add to the hilarity. Other Killer Cat books include The Diary of a Killer Cat (Farrar, Straus Giroux, 2006). Anne Fine’s awards include being named the 2001–2003 Children’s Laureate of Great Britain. hc
